The views of the Lakes region are breathtaking from the hikes along the Squam Range. Just a short drive to the Bridle Path trailhead (commonly referred to as Rattlesnake Hike), you embark on a short and moderate hike to panoramic views of Squam and Winnipesaukee lakes. We recommend you take along a sandwich from the café menu to enjoy on the flat granite rocks that are at the summit. More challenging and longer hikes start at the trailhead across the road for Mount Morgan and Mount Percival.
Chamberlin- Reynolds National Forest provides a very moderate walk that takes you to the shores of Squam Lake. Here you can dip your toes in the lake or swim off the sandy beach.
Hiking the White Mountains of NH is spectacular and breathtaking. Franconia Notch State Park is just 30 minutes from the Inn. Hike Lafayette Mountain, elevation 5260 feet from the trailhead at the Notch.
For the moderate hiker, The Basin is a relaxing walk along the Pemigewasset River.
Geocaching is becoming very popular in the Squam Lake area and is most often described as a “game of high-tech hide and seek! Bring your GPS handheld along and your treasure hunt begins!
