We have spent some time on the road this winter! Each of our lodging experiences
had a different purpose: business, pleasure and necessity (I-95 corridor, if you have
done it, you know what I mean)! After each trip, I was reminded of the true value of
staying at our inn.
When selecting accommodations, I primarily use TripAdvisor and room rates to aid
my decision. TripAdvisor traveler reviews validate my choice and I scourer the net
for the best rate for the property. BTW, the property’s site usually has the best rate!
Driving home after a stay, I started to “do the math” on a weekend visit. The cost of
the room was negligible in contrast to the additional costs associated with our stay.
It was a great trip — really, no complaints, I just needed to be reminded that the extra
amenities and conveniences that are offered to our guests at the SLI, add up to huge
savings. Most hotels offer a hybrid of the extras, whether it be free Wifi or
complimentary water in room.
Many hotels really are trying to capture the boutique and personal feel that sets our
industry apart. In our travels, we have not run across a place that offers the whole
package: breakfast, Wifi, parking, afternoon tea & dessert, all inclusive. We spent
approximately an additional $80 a day for these benefits. We are all familiar with
the phrase, “step back and see the big picture,” our lodging experiences this winter
afforded me the opportunity to do just that. I am proud and very confident that the
Squam Lake Inn, provides travelers with a great way to start and end their day, at a
unbelievable VALUE!
We have all had the “free” breakfast buffet. There is a reason it is free.
Stopping at a convenience store to get a bottle of water because you don’t want to
pay $7 for the bottle in your room.
I am going to park at a lot 7 blocks away from the hotel, it is only 24.00 a night
there!
12.95 a night for internet....whatever. It used to be 19.95, 5 years ago!
