Rae & Cindy
We are the Innkeepers, Chefs and Shopkeepers! We bought the Inn back in 2003, moving here from Orange County, California with our daughter, Taylor. Everyone asks us why? First, we loved the Lakes Region and had been vacationing here for many years. Second, we wanted to have a different lifestyle, working for ourselves. We hope you enjoy what we have created here, the friendly atmosphere, clean and comfortable rooms, great food and a fun shopping experience. We are extremely proud of our staff and they are all shining stars. They are such an important part of the Squam Lake Inn experience that we asked them to contribute to this page. We hope you enjoy meeting them during your visit!
I have been working at the Inn since 2007 and have many different tasks at Squam Lake Inn such as housekeeping, laundry, dishwashing and pizza sous chef. My favorite thing about working at the Inn is how we all get along; from talks about our “bird” code names, to chats while ironing, we are a family. I love lunch or dinnertime at the Inn. I have several favorites such as Turkey and Avocado with Bacon (I have mine with honey mustard!) for lunch, and for dinner absolutely anything Chef Rachel prepares, especially her magic risotto!
Working as a sales associate at the Squam Lake Inn / Red Barn Shop since 2005 is something that I look forward to every spring. First, I thoroughly enjoy chatting with our guests, catching up with the regulars and meeting the new visitors and sharing with them my enthusiasm of the Inn and the Lakes Region. Then there's the staff, and Rae and Cindy — all the best. So many of us come back year after year because it's so much more than a job. It's a fun and friendly atmosphere. I work in the Red Barn Shop which is full of unique and tempting items for the home and garden, all against a backdrop of a beautifully restored barn.
I have been involved with the Squam Lake Inn doing one thing or another since it opened in 2003 and many people know me as “Rae’s Mom”. I am responsible for the bookkeeping and I work in the Red Barn, doing retail sales. The Red Barn has wonderful items and good prices. I shop there all season long because I know I can always find the perfect thing for whatever the occasion is. I also enjoy working in the kitchen. I have started culinary school this past January and look forward to using my new skills. I love being involved with all the employees and guests at the Inn. It is a "happening" place and all the locals and out of town guests really enjoy themselves when they are at the Inn. I have lived in the area for about 8 years and I feel very lucky to be here and part of this wonderful, caring community.
I have worked at the Inn for 1 1/2 happy years. Like everyone, I perform a variety of duties at the Inn. Occasionally I work in the Red Barn. Most of the time I am breakfast waitress and also help in the kitchen with dishes and help with lunch prep. My favorite duty to perform is housekeeping. I like cleaning and preparing the rooms for our guests. My favorite thing about working at the Inn is that you are part of team. It is awesome to work with people that are professional and operate like a "well oiled machine." What I mean is that everyone is so well trained in all duties that they can step in to help at any time. One of the awesome benefits of working at the Inn is sitting down with the other employees to eat. . All the food is excellent. I do especially like the dinner menu though.
I have been working at the Inn since 2005. I have a variety of duties ranging from waitressing to training new employees in housekeeping to making fresh key lime pies. After working at the inn for over five years I still look forward to getting a delicious sandwich each day on my lunch break! It is hard to pick my favorite sandwich but it would have to be the turkey and avocado with bacon, which is also a favorite of many of our customers. The best part about working at the inn is the people who I work with. There is nothing better then getting to work with some of your best friends. And the location is great too. After a long day at work I can meet up with friends and head out on the lake, which is only a short walk away!
My name is Kristen and I have been working at the Squam Lake Inn since May 2005. It's crazy to look back at the transformation the Inn has had! My job as a part of the SLI Crew consist of a little bit of everything- but over the past few years you will primarily see me waitressing during lunch and dinner. I have done everything at the Inn so I do find myself in the back kitchen, up in the Red Barn Shop, at special events, or serving breakfast often too.
My name is Molly Becker and I have been part of the Squam Lake Inn Crew since 2007. I do everything here at the Inn from taking reservations, preparing the rooms for our guests and waitressing in our wonderful cafe. I look forward to the season because of the delicious food on our menus, from breakfast to dinner. My favorite breakfast is the French Toast with orange cream filling and Pepper bacon! We serve it with NH maple syrup and it is yummy! I enjoy the food so much that it makes me proud to serve it! I enjoy the people that visit the inn and all it has to offer!
Hi My name is Taylor and I'm the innkeeper's daughter, so basically I'm second in command. Not really, but I have literally done everything one could possibly do at the Inn from housekeeping, painting guest rooms, washing dishes, delivering furniture purchased at the Red Barn, making DELICIOUS salads and sandwiches at our Lunch Cafe, to more recently being our chef's go-to-girl during dinner. There are so many things I love about the Inn...it's hard to choose just a few! I would have to say some of my favs are: the veggie Taylor-made with bacon (of course!), the coconut macaroons and the front porch on a warm summer's evening. The Inn is a super special place to myself and everyone else here, so I know you'll love it as much as we do!"
