Squam Ridge Race 2016Labor Day might signal the unofficial end of the summer in the Lakes Region, but not only is the weather still warm, and the lake still the perfect temperature for swimming, there are exciting events coming to the region every week through the early fall. One of our favorites that showcases everything remarkable about our natural area is the annual Squam Ridge Race. The 4th annual race will be held on Sunday, September 11th and is a fundraising effort for the fantastic network of trails around Squam Lake.

The event consists of two separate races, and there is a way for anyone to participate. The 12.2 mile race includes both a racer and a hiker division, and twists and turns along trails across most of the Squam Range and boasts a 3,000 foot elevation gain and breathtaking views throughout. There is also a 4 mile race up and down Mount Livermore that anyone is welcome to run or just hike as a participant of the event.  Participants in either event will be entered into prize drawings held at the end of the event, and have access to food and beverages at the starting/finish line.  There are medals presented to the top runners in their division as well as the top overall finishers. This is a fundraising event and all proceeds go to upkeep for the extensive 50 mile trail network around Squam.

Squam Lake MarketPlace in Holderness, NHThe Squam Lake MarketPlace is proud to be an official aid station for all race participants, and is the ideal place for a pre-race energy boost or post-race lunch celebration! If you are coming into the area for the race, the Squam Lake Inn has rooms still available on Sunday. Why not celebrate further with a cozy room and a fantastic dinner at the on-site Inn Kitchen + Bar.
